Just an update on what I have been doing the last few weeks. The last report showed that I had been diving on Taveuni Island, FIJI with a great group of divers, mostly from Divers Den Dive Shop. It was a great 9 days of diving, with most days being 3 dives per day.

Some of us had some tummy issues, probably due to the water, but it could have been something going around. I am at a different resort as I write this, and my issues have not gone away completely. There are two other divers here who had been at a different Fiji resort last week and they also have tummy issues. Makes me think it is more likely something that is going around.

I am currently at the Volivoli Beach Resort in Rakiraki, Fiji Islands. The first two nights there were only 3 other guests at the resort. A few days into it there are now an additional 2 other divers. The diving is great, a little murky due to some weather, but otherwise pretty darned great. The food is awesome, the view fantastic. Only 2 dives a day, so very relaxing.

I experienced a first for me on a dive boat: We had a diver using a breast pump during the surface interval between dives. I'm wondering if her baby was thinking "mom, why is my milk salty?"

Sorry guys, no pics.

Other than that, nothing unusual. I still don't have a flight scheduled to get me home from LAX, so not really sure when I will be home. Some of that depends on what happens with some other plans.

Most of what you see below will have been on my facebook page.

LUNCH BREAKS

NOT MY PIC, but this just looks so good I borrowed it. This is at one of the lunch breaks. at Rainbow Reef at Taveuni Island.

Lunch Breaks are in beautiful places

This little island is where our Divers Den group has decided we are all going to move to.

Working on my selfie skills.

VOLIVOLI

Storm Categories

A new location, a new storm

Prior to heading to the northern part of the main island I received reports of a cyclone that was going to hit the resort.

So this is what was in the news a few days before I headed to my next location in Fiji.

The storm was supposed to go right over the north end of the big island, which is where I was going to be going.

Those numbers are storm categories. Nadi is on the big island, where I will be.

OK, maybe category 1 and 2 is not disastrous, but enough to worry about.

As it turns out, the storm tracked farther north than expected. All we got was a bunch or rain, some wind, and slightly rough seas.

Diving was just fine, although the surface was a bit rough and the visibility was less than perfect, but not really bad.

This was the view AFTER the storm. Not that the storm was much of a storm at our location.

SUNSETS

I'm moving to Fiji. Who wants to join me 🏝️ ?
See how smooth that water is? That was 24 hours after the worst of the storm.

ROOM SWAPPING

For the second portion of my trip I am staying in VoliVoli resort near Rakiraki, Fiji.

I got to the resort very late, after dinner was served. I had just assumed I would not be able to get a meal. The staff had anticipated this. They put a meal of Lamb Shank with plenty of extras in my room. It was delicious.

The view from the room was pretty awesome. It was a bright, clean and fairly basic room, one large bed, two small beds, a fridge etc. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

When I came back after breakfast the next day the floor was wet. The tank of the toilet was leaking all over the floor. I let them know and they said they would fix it.

They were not able to fix it, but the leak seemed so slow they just put a bucket under the leak thinking that was enough. The problem was that the leak was variable, and it was MUCH faster at times. I would just shut the water off between flushes. The valve in the toilet was leaking, filling up the tank. The problem was that the overflow tube went right onto the floor.

Anyway, they didn't hesitate, they just gave me the room next door to ensure I had no more issues. Unfortunately the room was identical except for the lack of windows on one large wall. With the weather forecast, I assumed I might spend a bit more time in the room than normal. I asked if I could have the room on the other side of my original, which was a mirror image of the first room.

Instead, they moved me to a Premium Room. The room was fantastic, not that I need much.

It had a kitchen, although I don't have much to do with it.

A living room area, great for hanging out inside. Of courser a bed. All very comfortable.

A patio with very comfortable lounge chairs.

A fantastic view, with the ability to get LTE on my phone.

And a washing machine, so I can do laundry. I am not sure how well that will work since the non drinking water is slightly brackish, but I just might try it before I leave.
